On Friday 23 May we invite you for another CAYAC movie night. You can come and share dinner from 18:30. Bring a bit of food to share – but do not bring too much. You can also just arrive for the film. It begins at 20:00.
This time we will watch The Apostle by Robert Duvall.
On 15 February we lost Robert Duvall – one of the great actors of American cinema. During his long career he gave unforgettable performances in films such as The Godfather, Apocalypse Now and Tender Mercies, for which he won the Academy Award for Best Actor.
The Apostle never became one of his most famous films, but many consider it among his very best works. Duvall not only plays the leading role – he also wrote, produced and directed the film himself.
The film follows a passionate but deeply flawed Pentecostal preacher travelling through the American South, wrestling with guilt, faith, pride and grace. It is a powerful and surprisingly honest portrait of religion, brokenness and the longing for redemption.
The film is also on Fr. Daniel’s personal top 10 list of greatest films.
Everyone is welcome. Access through Englesalen.
