Saturday, 8 November – Dinner from 6:30 pm | Movie starts at 8:00 pm
Join us for a special movie night at CAYAC! We’ll be watching Dancer in the Dark, the powerful and deeply moving film by Danish director Lars von Trier.
The movie follows Selma, a Czech immigrant and single mother working in a factory in rural America. As her eyesight slowly fades, she escapes into music and daydreams of Hollywood musicals. It’s a haunting story about love, sacrifice, and hope – but be warned: this is an exceptionally sad and emotionally demanding film. Many viewers find it hard to watch, and at 140 minutes it’s an intense experience.
The film won the Palme d’Or (Golden Palm) at the Cannes Film Festival in 2000 for Best Picture. The Icelandic singer Björk stars in her first acting role and received the award for Best Actress. She also wrote and performed the film’s unforgettable songs, making it a true masterpiece of emotion, music, and storytelling.
If you’d like to join for dinner beforehand, please bring some food to share. We’ll gather for dinner from 6:30 pm, and the film begins at 8:00 pm.
All are welcome – just enter Englesalen from the back side door of the church.
